Job Description

  • Established in 1863, the ICRC operates worldwide, helping people affected by conflict
    and armed violence and promoting the laws that protect victims of war. An independent
    and neutral organization, its mandate stems essentially from the Geneva Conventions
    of 1949. We are based in Geneva, Switzerland, and employ some 14,500 people in
    more than 80 countries.

Responsibilities:

    o Receives and dispatches all mails received from ICRC Delegation and Somali Red
    Crescent Society (SRCS) to the intended recipients
    o Prepares the monitoring list/forms and dispatches the same to the relevant
    offices
    o Updates the ICRC data base related to the opening of tracing cases
    o On a bi-annual basis extracts a report on all pending tracing cases and sends it
    to SRCS tracing coordinators for follow up purposes
    o Captures data into the specific databases and ensures that all closed cases are
    updated accordingly in the system
    o Ensures conformity to the set procedures and adherence to quality standards
    during the data entry for all the Restoring Family Links (RFL) cases
    o Ensures proper record management and compliance with data entry procedures
    o Follows up and ensures that the tracing documents are returned to ICRC after
    broadcast

    o Supports in oral interpretation from Somali to English, and English to Somali on
    need be basis
    o Conducts data analysis and generates reports to support in data driven decision-
    making within the department.


Requirements:

    o Bachelor’s Degree in Business Administration, Business Management, or
    equivalent qualification in a related field of study
    o 2 years’ experience as a Data Administrator in a busy environment
    o Solid experience in data management and familiar with various
    databases/software
    o Knowledgeable of the Data Protection Policy
    o Good command of English and Somali, both Written and spoken
    o Excellent organizational and communication skills
    o Ability to work independently and in a multicultural environment
    o High level of confidentiality
    o Proficiency in MS Office Suite.
