    Terre des Hommes Netherlands is part of the International Federation of Terre des Hommes organisations, a strategic partnership of member organisations sharing the same brand name and core values for joint lobby and advocacy around children’s rights. Terre des Hommes Netherlands (TdH NL) protects children by preventing and stopping child exploitation, and by empowering children to make their voices count.     In line with our new strategy, TdH NL is in the process of establishing four Global Programmes under which our portfolio of humanitarian and development projects and programmes will be managed. These are:

    1. Worst Forms of Child Labour,
    2. Sexual Exploitation of Children,
    3. Humanitarian Action, and
    4. Child Trafficking and Migration. Our programmatic work is supported by two cross-programmatic units: Programme Development and Quality (PDQ), and Research, Expertise and Influencing (REI). Aligned to our new strategy, and based on many years of experience as a child rights organisation, we aim to consolidate our expertise and programme management, informed by research, to bring about sustainable and systemic change in the lives of children, and to hold duty bearers accountable

Responsibilities:

    About the role and team

    Are you looking for a diverse role in Human Resources in an organisation with a strong social purpose? Do you bring solid HR experience and knowledge of labour law and legislation in East African countries to the table? Do you like to operate on a tactical and operational level of advising and policy development? Would you like to shape the HR policies and at the same time provide a tailor made service to the business? Then we have just the job for you!

    The organisation has seen some challenges and has gone through changes in the past years. As an HR Business Partner Africa you are responsible for shaping, executing and following-up of the HR policies and practices as well as areas such as Recruitment, Induction, Performance Management, to name a few, in the African region. You have a wide range of HR responsibilities and a diverse workday as a result of that.

    In this role you are part of a Global HR team with colleagues in Asia and The Netherlands. You will report to the HR Manager, based in The Netherlands. As a small but global team we will all work closely together to assure alignment in our policies and practices. Together we provide services to 60 people in the Netherlands and about 145 people worldwide.


Requirements:

     

    Where do you make an impact?

    • Advising; you advise and coach managers in cases of sick leave, performance issues, remuneration and other HR related matters following Dutch law and legislation and the TdH strategy;
    • HR Policies; you detect new developments, bottlenecks and practical needs and initiate proposals and policy drafts accordingly;
    • HR Admin; you oversee the entire HR administration and personnel files;
    • Recruitment: you are assisting line managers where needed in recruitment and selection. You take on employer branding as well as on- and off boarding of employees;
    • Learning & Development: you guide individual and team career development processes, you sense training and schooling needs and you facilitate and coordinate training and workshops;
    • Performance Management: you prepare and guide managers in conducting the Performance Management Cycle;
    • Employability: you are responsible for sick leave management, guiding managers and employees as well as guarding the overall process. You know how to analyse and interpret sick leave data. You are the contact person for the occupational health service provider.

    Who are you?

    You are a driven and passionate HR colleague with:

    • A bachelor degree in a relevant field (HRM, Social Studies, Organisational Psychology);
    • A minimum of 3 to 5 years experience in a similar role;
    • Strong business partner for the management team and a sparring partner for the HR manager;
    • Excellent command of English both written and spoken;
    • Experience in an international setting and/or NGO is a plus;
    • Up to date knowledge of Kenyan (and ideally other African countries) labour law and legislation;
    • Pragmatism, organisational and political awareness, flexibility and result-oriented;
    • Experience with NMBRS, Homerun and Google Suite is a plus.
