Job Description
The Dentist specializes in the diagnosis and management of complex orofacial conditions (congenital, developmental and acquired) in patients including preventive, interceptive and
curative dentistry.
Responsibilities:
- Diagnosis of orofacial diseases/conditions, prescribe appropriate investigations and formulate treatment plans.
- Performing specific dental procedures in areas that include conservative and restorative dentistry, aesthetic dentistry, prosthetic rehabilitation, endodontics, minor oral surgery and orthodontics.
- Supervision, training and mentorship of dental officers, dental interns and students.
- Undertaking call duties to review and manage patients with urgent/emergency conditions.
- Participating in the multidisciplinary management of patients.
- Undertaking medico-legal duties such as completing insurance dental/medical reports, P3 forms and judicial attendance.
- Taking part in the formulation and implementation of the departmental annual work plans.
- Formulate, review and implement dental policies, standards, guidelines and protocols.
- Establishment and maintaining a dental health information system.
- Conduct research to advance dental sciences and provide solutions to existing problem areas.
- Ensure use of all Hospital’s automated systems, as appropriate, including the Hospital Management Information System (HMIS);
- Any other responsibility assigned by the supervisor in the delivery of care
